The Big Berkey Water Filteration is a gravity-fed water filtration system designed to purify water from various sources:-
- You put unfiltered water into the Big Berkey’s top chamber. This water could come from ponds, rivers, lakes, or tap water.
- In the upper chamber, the water is run through Black Berkey filters (or components). These filters work well at removing impurities because of their special combination of components. To purify the water, the system makes use of ion exchange, adsorption, and microfiltration.
- The tiny holes in the Black Berkey filters allow them to hold onto impurities like bacteria, cysts, and sediments.
- Adsorption is the mechanism by which the filters bind to heavy metals and compounds, such as mercury, arsenic, chlorine, and lead.
- Throughout the process, the filters replace dangerous ions with good ones, such as calcium or magnesium.
- The clean water flows into the bottom chamber once it has been filtered and is kept there until needed. It’s easy to dispense the filtered water thanks to a spout at the bottom.
- More than 99.9% of dangerous pollutants, including pesticides, heavy metals, viruses, germs, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), are eliminated by the system.
- The Big Berkey filter preserves healthy minerals like calcium and magnesium in the water, unlike other filtering systems.
- There is no need for plumbing or power because the Big Berkey operates on gravity. Because of this, it is the perfect answer for both routine use and urgent circumstances.
